Samira Tasnim was born at Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh on 14th July 1986. She obtained B.Sc. (Honours) in 2007 (held in 2009) and M.Sc. in Physics in 2008 (held in 2010) from the Department of Physics, Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Her secured CGPA in B. Sc. is 3.73 (3rd position) and in M. Sc. is 3.96 (2nd position). She is now continuing M.Phil. in Plasma Physics at Jahangirnagar University. Her teaching career commenced in Stamford University Bangladesh as a Lecturer, and she worked there from January 2011 to May 2012. After that, she joined as a Lecturer in the Department of Physics, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, on May 26, 2012. Ms. Tasnim is also working as a Research Fellow of TWAS Research Unit from 01/10/2010 to till now. Her main research field is theoretical and computational plasma physics, which involves non linear structures (particularly, solitons, shock waves, and double layers) in space and laboratory plasmas.
